Materials Needed to Start a Work at Home Jewelry Business
Starting a work at jewelry business is one of the easiest ways to start earning money online. The great thing about it is that you don’t need a lot of money to get started. This is one business that you can easily start out with your family member and friends as your customers. Some people buy kits to use and start selling from there. Kits are ok to use to gain skills and knowledge of a certain technique but it’s not the best way to start your business. Sell jewelry from kits will limit your sell and skills. People are willing to pay more for unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. Also kits can be quit expensive and your profit margin won’t be very lucrative. You can charge more and keep your cost low by creating your own unique pieces. Do some research by going through magazines and catalogues? You can also go to your local craft store and find free how to sheet on jewelry making and learn a few new techniques. Make a binder full of all the idea you would like to try and any price information that is available. Use this book only as inspiration to get your creativity flowing. Pictures can also give you insight of how to do something or how it should look after it is completed. There are two easy ways to learn jewelry making methods and techniques that you should consider: beading and making your own beads with polymer clay. Beading bought from the store requires little skill other than a good sense of design and creativity and best of all the materials are inexpensive. Doing beaded jewelry give you 100’s of option to make beautiful pieces. Put creating your own beads with polymer clay will really make your work stand out and be creative and of course one of a kind. My advice would be to get a few books on polymer clay techniques and get all the tools require to make a great product. But remember your not only limited to making beads with polymer clay there are many more options. In the beginning buying all the tools will be one of your biggest expenses but you won’t have to buy this once. These tools will last you a life time as long as they are will taken care of. Listed below I have other tools that will come in handy for you Here’s a list of tools you will need to start: 1. Jewelers’ wire cutters. If you can only afford one pair, get memory wire shears. These are designed to make clean cuts on tough memory wire, so can also be used for softer wires. 2. Chain-nose pliers (sometimes called needle-nose pliers) Very versatile for picking up and grasping small items, bending eye pins, closing jumps rings, even closing crimp beads. 3. Round-nose pliers – Used for creating loops on beaded head and eye pins. Can also be used for winding your own jump rings and as the second pliers you’ll need for closing jump rings. 4. Optional pliers – Wire-looping pliers which have several graduated circumferences to allow you to form perfectly uniform jump rings and loops (in place of the round-nose pliers mentioned above). Crimping pliers which have little notches to allow you to both flatten a crimp bead and then bend it to form a rounded finished look (instead of the flat crimp you get using the chain-nose pliers). As for materials, I recommend some assortment packs of beads in coordinating colors, some decorative metal spacers, seed beads in both silver and gold (These can serve as spacers and beautifully set off your other beads.), tube-shaped crimp beads (Buy the best you can find – these are what hold it all together!), head and eye pins. You might want some silver or pewter charms. For earrings, you would need ear posts or wires or clip-on bases. For bracelets, you need memory wire or stretchy cord or beading wire and clasps. For necklaces, memory wire or beading wire, clasps and perhaps pendants. A bead board is a good idea too. Its ruled tracks help you measure and lay out designs for bracelets and necklaces; as well as to corral the beads you are working with at a given time. When starting a work at home jewelry or any business remember that no matter how beautiful your pieces are no one will by them unless they know you’re in business.

First I want to start off by saying to those who have read my blogs, thanks for the comments and I appreciate you taking the time out to read what I have to say. Since I have written the last blog in March I actually have started going to show to sell my wears. Although some where more successful than others I do believe they were tremendous learning experiences. What I have learn about being in business for yourself is that you may not have taken a class but believe me every step that you take in your journey is a learning experience weather good or bad. Now some of the bad experience will temp you to want to rethink your decision of going for your dream. Believe me I have on several occasion though about throwing in the towel but I do know that the most successful people were the ones who have fail over and over again. I try to remember what really makes you successful is not when you succeed but when you didn’t give up the times that you failed. So if there is anyone who feels they should throw in the towel, ask yourself this question. Would you do this business if you never got paid for it? If you answer yes you are definitely on the right track. Once you find your passion you will never work another day in your life. Before I end this article I must also remind you the importance of having faith. You must see yourself in the position that you want to be in. You might not have a clue as to how you’re going to get their but it doesn’t matter as long as you believe that you belong there, it will happen. When you don’t get one sale and it seems that no one wants, like or care what you have to offer, just remember to keep pushing forward your break through is right around the corner.
Hi everyone it's been a while since I posted on my blog. I realized that I have been letting life get in the way of me living. I was at church this Sunday and my pastor ask how many people or living their passion. In other words how many people as of this moment are doing what they love and what they have wanted to do all their lives. I look around and saw all the people that raised their hands. His next question was, "Why not"? Why aren't you living your passion and doing what you are good at and what we enjoy.
I have a passion for designing, decorating and real estate investment. You would think that I would be doing one of these passion on a daily basis. I can say that I studying at the Art Institute for Interior Design but I am not designing. I did work for a company a year ago for four years designing woman accessories but the business went under. I did sign up to go to a real estate investment meetings every Monday but haven't attended on yet. The question is why haven't I press forward or followed through with doing what I love? My answer! I let life get in the way. I let society get in the way. I let the thoughts of other guide me through out my life. Worrying about what they would think if I just chuck the hourly job (that wasn't helping me make end meet) to pursue my dream. Don't get me wrong I don't suggest anyone to stop working a job and start a business with no income. But what I am saying is to not let that job guide your future. For example I was so exhausted from my other job when I got off from work all I wanted to do was sleep and I did. The next day was the same I started the day all over again still not putting forth any energy for my future. Will no more! As of yesterday, Tuesday, March 20, 2012, I decided that I will work toward my goal every day I will schedule a time to do what I love not matter what is going on and how I feel. I deserve to have a better life and I deserve to have a more rewarding financial future for me, my kids and my new grand-baby that is coming alone this fall. I beg any one if you are not living your passion make a promise to your self that you will start today. If it's writing a blog, writing an eBook, doing a video, making jewelry, or painting a portrait. What ever it may be do it starting today. Everyone is talented in something. It could be sewing, knitting, painting, drawing, and jewelry design. Not everyone is creative but just because you’re not creative doesn't mean you don't have a talent. You can be creative at designing websites or doing research on the internet or maybe you’re great at writing ads. Whatever the case maybe the importance of your talent is the difference between not having income or having a little something extra on the side. There are so many different things that you can do with your talents not only to bring in extra money for your family but helping someone who otherwise could not have afforded your type of services from a big business. Here are six ideas that do with your talents....
I was always told to use my talents or lost them. If your not sharing your talents with the world your not only a disservice to your self but to others. We all know that at some time or another we have considered starting a business for our own. But instead of starting a business that everyone else has why think of other creative ideas for a business! When I say creative ideas I'm referring to using a talent that you have making something or selling the instruction to them. For me I have been an artist/designer all my life it's very easy for me to look at thing and see something totally different. Thinking of creative ideas for business can be as simple as duplicating your work for profit. For example let’s say you’re an artist and you like to paint but trying to paint 100's of new painting a week to sell can be tiring. So look at your talent from a different angle you can paint one and then sell that painting in a print for a poster or post card. You can make iron copies and transfer them to pillows or aprons or may t-shirts. Whatever you talents are always think in the mind of mass production this will help you start a profitable business with working you to death. Here's another example. I have been designing women and children accessories since I had my 1st child and have been doing it professionally for the last five years. Well using your hands can get a little rough when you are constantly working needles, glue guns, cutters and all the other things to create a product. Although I love doing the work in order for me to make a great living at it instead of a living is to create products that can be reproduced without all the manual dexterity of my hands. So for me I will continue making beautiful accessories but not in mass production. I believe once you try to sell a lot of your products (especially if they are handmade) in mass production it can cause you designs and quality of designs to suffer I guarantee if you think of creative ideas for a business you can turn your talents into a profitable empire. .
