Here's a peak at whats inside theBasement Finishing University training program. I can't go over the entire program because it's really just too much to list. But before we get into all of this let me let you in on a little bit of history about the developer of this program his name is Eddie Case. Eddie works as a basement refinishing contractor full time for the past 17 years. Back in 2008 his company took a bit hit because of the economy. Things had gotten so bad for Eddie that he could no longer make ends meet. Because if this rough time he had to relieve 50% of his crew from their position. Things did not get any better and Eddie know that he needed to find an alternative way to earn income. So he began to wonder how could he use his skills to make much need income.
One day Eddie was sitting around with nothing to do and he was about to go stir crazy. So he decided to do a little surfing on the internet to see what type of information was available about refinishing a basement for home owners who wanted to do it themselves. It didn't take much time before Eddie realized that there wasn't much information available at least not any information that was of use to any one. He ran across a few sites with diagrams and pretty pictures which is pretty much useless especially if you don't know the first thing about refinishing anything. So he decided to upload some clips of him and his workers refinishing a basement. He created and new channel and before you know it within the first 30 days he had 250,000 views and over 500 new subscribers. Eddie was convinced that homeowners were indeed looking for this type of information because there really wasn't anything else out there. So Eddie decided to create a training course with step-by-step instruction on how to finish a basement from start to finish plus a few extra tips. Click Here to Get the Basement Finishing University Course With in 16 months the training program was born. The videos are very hands on not only are you getting instruction on what to do you are able to see the steps being done right before your eyes. You are literally looking over Eddie and his workers shoulders. The visual part of these video are so clear that if you didn't speak a lick of English all you have to do is watch closely and then repeat what they were doing. I guess you say it sounds to good to be true but why not. For example lets say that you didn't know how to hand sheet rock and you went to a friends home to watch him hang a few sheets presto you now know who to hang sheet rock. The only difference with this course is that you don't have to leave the comfort of your home and you don't have to go around looking for people to show you how to do every project pertaining to basement refinishing. You have the course right here in your hands and if you didn't get it you don't have to call and ask your friend to show you again all you have to do is rewind and keep it moving. I must say that Eddie though of everything when he designed this course not only will you get the videos instructing you on the projects but you will also be guided on what kind of materials to buy and from where. You will also know which tools are needed for each project. To make it simple it like have a cookbook video. It gives you the ingredients that are needed where you can purchase the ingredients when to use what and how long it will take to finish. Sounds pretty simple to me. So what can you expect to learn in Eddie's training course. You will began with how to identify obstacles in your basement and how to design around. Then you are shown how to add the new zones and finalize the design and floor plan. Next the training is laid out in Module form so that you know when you've completed one aspect of your project. Now this option is great for those who wants to incorporate a bar within their theme. You can use the bar stools for multiple seating and viewing the middle TV. For the club chairs for those who want to be a little more comfortable they have the option for viewing the side TV's without any obstruction of others setting at the bar. The walls can be an interpretation of the cinder block walls .that you wouldn't have to finish. The ceiling represent the rafters or exposed beams you can either spray paint the entire ceiling black or leave it as is. |
The Dated Basement!
A lot of homes here in Georgia have the split level floor plan. When you open the front door you have stair going up into the living area and staring going down into the basement. Many times these homes have only one sometimes to rooms for extra space. If this is your option or if you have a room that is a little dated, this is the perfect option. You buy a big wall unit large enough to fit your 80" TV and cover any unsightly paneling. Then add a rug and two sofas and if the room allows it add a few game tables to finish out the space. Boom! You are ready for foot ball season! |
Odd Shape Rooms
When you have a room that comes with a nook and it's the only room that's available for your man cave. Well guess what there is a solution. Use the nook to place the TV. I added two oversize club chairs for intimate viewing. If there is only two watching TV you have the option to pull the curtain for more privacy. But if you look at the space planning you could see that the TV is viewable from any area of the room, at the bar or playing pool. When you invite friends over you don't have to limited it to one. This room is almost like a mini sports club environment. |
For the Women Who Sports Loves!
Now for the women who loves sports, I couldn't forget about you. This area is a little more elegant and feminine. You see that I placed two TVs and you might ask why. OK, I'll be honest when I watch football I'm always flipping back and forth watching HGTV or the Hallmark channel. I can't help it when I watch football I get so nervous that I have to turn the TV to calm me down. So instead of turning the channel I can just look at the other TV without having to flip back and forth. Now if you like the option of having two TVs but don't want them dominating the room, you can have the curtains and rod extend so that you can pull ii close hiding the TVs. You can also have a roller shade made of your favorite painting and pull the shade down over the televisions when not in use. Then you would have a wonder picture in it's place. |
If you have that extra room, unfinished, dated or finish basement and wasn't sure what to do with it, try making it into a media room. Although I talk about having it to watch football and invite friends over, this is also a great option for the entire family to enjoy. If you have the space to add game pieces and game system this can also be a great hangout for the kids and their friends. Not only will you have a cleaner house you will have a quieter house.

Ottomans are great for any part of the home. They can be a bit expensive especially if your looking for a particular size, color or style. If you've been dying to have an ottoman why not make one yourself. How can you do it , turn your coffee table into an ottoman. If you have an old coffee table or you found one at your local thrift store then you have an ottoman just waiting to come to life. - Prep table by cleaning off any dirt.
- Next cut upholstery foam to fit the top of the table. (Best way to do this is to turn the table down on the foam and trace around the table)
- Cut the foam with an electric knife (the best and easiest way to cut foam)
- Glue foam to the table so that it doesn't shift
- Place batting on top of foam and staple in place (when stapling start in the middle stapling one staple in the middle on the top, then on the bottom, and then on left side and right side. By doing this you will have a firm and even hold. Be sure to do the same when you are stapling the fabric).
- Next place your fabric on to your batting if you have a pattern make sure it is centered before stapling ( you have the option to also turn the table down on the fabric and stable it that way but if you are using a fabric with a pattern put the middle staples in place before turning table face down on the fabric to ensure that the pattern is centered).

4 Interior Designs for YouTube videos so you look more professional!
I see a lot of videos and when I sometimes look at what's in the background I get distracted! This is why I decided to talk about interior design for YouTube. When deciding on what it is that you would like to do with your channel I would recommend that you take into consideration what type of message that you want to bring across. These simple backgrounds are very inexpensive and basically you can use what is laying around your house to make your videos look more professional.
For the gossip channels I thank about talk show themes where you interview other people or if you are the only one just use one bar stool and add a bistro table to place your coffee on to complete the look. If you already have bar stools this would be a perfect options but if you don't, don't worry you can always use your club chairs or dinning room chairs to get this affect. As far as the background scene, you can get wallpaper scenes for about $100 or you can take a picture yourself and have it turned into wall paper. Check out this site for more informationhttp://www.designyourwall.com/store/favoritedrawing.php . I would suggest using a city scene (day or night) so it really looks authentic. If you don't want it on your wall just get a piece of quarter inch MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and attached the background. That way it's doesn't become permanent and you can also put it away when your not using it. Don't forget your faux plants to give life to the area. Now you have the option to transform any room in your house with out totally disrupting you current interiors. You can also use your garage or basement even if your basement is unfinished to pull off this look.
For the Sports reporter this idea is so simple! I know what your thinking that the TV's in the background or going to break the bank! Well you have an option, you can buy the TV's if your budget allows it. But if you are on a tight budget then you can get the same props that designers use when staging homes. You can get these TV's starting at $21.50 at http://www.propsamerica.com/. At this website you can also get laptops, TV images and fake food. Now as for the bar stools and table, if you have stools great, if not, again just use two dinning room chairs or living room chairs. If you don't have a bar use a rectangle kitchen table or folding table. To give the image of the wood, go to your local home improvement store and get bead board and stain it or paint it what ever color you like or your theme and attach it to the front of the table or you can even lay it against the table if you don't want to attach it. The curtains give it the media room touch and if you decided to set up a media room use this idea and now you have taken one room that have multiple uses. You can easily set up this idea in a basement or a garage or anywhere you have a blank wall. It's simple to do.
For the educator or for those who are fortunate enough to have a space for a home office. I would suggest that you use it! It already there and if you have it set up it won't cost you a thing. This option can be used for a variety of you-tubers and it's especially ideal for those that are in the Forex trading business. As you can see on the wall I have clocks and you will see a lot of people that do business overseas have multiple clock on their wall to see the time in the locations where they do business with. So if you want to fake it before you make it here is what you can do. To get the clocks, buy one clock that you really like. Bring it home and take pictures of that clock at different times. Print out the copies in the size of your choice and then get a piece of foam cord and decoupage it to the foam. Now you have achieved the same look without having to purchase additional clocks. And of course don't forget to get yourself two faux plants to put in your background to liven things up!
For the free spirited entrepreneur it can't get any easier then this. If you have a beautiful backyard, leave close to a park or a beautiful beach then this is definitely the way to go. If you have patio furniture in your back yard you are halfway there and if you don't go to Craigslist and I',m sure you will find something there that's in your budget. The best thing about recording outside is that you have all the natural light that you can get. You don't need all the additional equipment that is needed for lighting indoors. But I will tell you that if you do choice to record your videos outside do it in the morning or in the evening to avoid the harsh shadows that come with recording during the day. This is because the sun is on top of you, therefor shadows will be there and there's no way to avoid them unless you do it at the particular times mention. This option can be used by anyone if you don't have a beautiful backyard or you don't live close to a beach or park. Just go outside and make your video using just a head shot! This is the cheapest alternative yet.
It's great how things have changed in life. Now you can choose a job that would otherwise be impossible to break into without the right credentials. So before you began your video take inventor of what you already have around your house. And if you have a small budget use it to purchase tools and equipment that will help further your business. These designs for YouTube videos proves you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a professional background. Start your business right from the beginning so others will taking your serious. Using these ideas will eliminate the clutter in the background.

I am so very excited to announce that I won 1st place in the Olioboards contest. This is my first win and I am beyond grateful! I never imaged that I would win a contest on a website that have 103,000 members! Now don't get me wrong not all designers participate in the design challenge only a selected few choose to participate. But regardless it's an honor to have the opportunity to compete with some really awesome designers!
I wanted to show you the design that I created that won 1st place. It's a perfect combination of different shades of grey. What I liked about this room was the concept that sometime we fell like everything has to match including the light fixtures. I want to show that although the pendent lighting wasn't the same it still balance the room because of it's common color of black.
